After Tina left for her mission, we didn't know who would run the blog. Here is a quick recap of how Joe has been doing since New Years!
Happy New Years everyone!!! What's not the best way to start the year but to waste 5 mintues of your free time reading my email!!! JK! Not a waste! Good for the Soul! Chicken Soup!

Friday (Dec 25)
After skyping with my family, we proceeded to go to the church to wait for some members to E. and S. Lyons house for Christmas!!!! Your traditional American Christmas here in Thailand! When, we reached their house, we helped them prepare the Christmas Dinner. I helped make the Sweet Potatoes and the Salad. Awesomesause. We an awesome dinner, with funeral potatoes, dinner rolls, etc. After that, we built a Nativity scene together out of clay. With each figure, we wrote a little message about them. I build the star that appeared over the town of Bethlehem. This is what I wrote about it...
"I am the star which appeared over the small town of Bethlehem. I am the star which was spoken in your scriptures of old. I am the star which was sung about in your Christmas carols of new. I am the star which led the Wise Men to the baby in swaddling clothes. I am the star which appeared in a day with no night in the land of Nephi. I am the star, but not just any normal star. For normal stars often shine light for the objects that surrounds them. But, I am the star which shines light to all, the revealing light, the revealing truth, the truth to all that...to put it simply... He is born.
A lot of people liked it, or the white people and the 1 Khon Thai that understood English. After that, we opened presents!! I got socks, a tie, and a new rechargeable tail light for my bike! Awesome! Love Khon Kaen! Then, we went home, super stuffed.

Saturday
Saturday was our branch's Christmas Party. In the morning, E. Williams and I went to Pratuu Nam to get the gifts for the Christmas Party. E. Williams bought a sweater and I bought a small bag. After that, we went to the church to prepare things for the Christmas Party. The children got to make a bunch of cookies btw. Really good. For the Christmas Party, we had a mini-Christmas Devo. After that, we had our Christmas Dinner. Then, we exchanged presents. I got an awesome T-Shirt while E. Williams got towels. It was a really fun Christmas activities. A lot of people showed up for it, members, RCs, LAs, and Investigators alike.

Sunday
We had a chance to teach our investigator, B. Oak (12 years old), the Restoration. He was really confused on why is mom kept sending him to church while the rest of the family was Buddhist. But, he said that he'll definitely choose to follow Christ. After that, we visited S. Nit, S. Phim, and S. Praew with B. Arm, S. Joy, and S. Luugnam. S. Nit was sick that day, so we decided to go visit her and share a message with her and to provide our help.

Monday
E. Williams felt very sick, so we stayed in all day. I basically just set up lessons, cleaned up the house, and studied some Thai.

Tuesday
For District Meeting, we talked about how help with fellow-shipping with the members. Then, we visited B. Alongon again. We talked about expectations with him and then talked about having faith. After that, we taught some English.

Wednesday
We had this awkwardly free time after lunch and didn't know what to do, so we decided to follow the Spirit...translating to cleaning our house. And it was a good thing too because as we were taking out the trash, we found a electricity bill that was due that day. The Spirit works in such mysterious ways, and for even more mysterious purposes. After that, we visited S. Noy and read Alma 36 which talks about true conversion and what that feels like. She had quit a certain medicine and felt really gitterly and was hard for to concentrate, but she completely understood the message. Also, S. Windy, our member helper, share an awesome message from Moroni 7 which talked about charity. I believe that really helped S. Noy feel some peace in her rather frantic life. After that, we went Post-Christmas Caroling with the Lyons at Fairy Plaza. It felt kinda awkward because it was after Christmas and was a little hard to share a message about Christmas when it was already over. But we got free ice cream at the end.

Thursday
Didn't really do much. Weekly Planned, made some spaghetti, and then cleaned up the house because we must be home by 6:00 to avoid New Years madness. So yeah.

That's all for this week! See ya next week! Shout out to my sister, Kat. It was her b-day on Christmas!! Woot!

Stuff to look forward to:
Two elders will be moving here to Khon Kaen, E. Chio and E. Daily.
An awesome member's b-day is coming up.
Gonna visit a Buddhist Temple.
Gonna buy some more fabric.
Yeah!]]>

(Probs not)]]>Tue, 15 Dec 2015 19:02:38 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-44-khon-kaen-for-the-last-time-probs-notHello Hello! How are you all today? I've decided to end Pics of the Week because I can't find any funny pics anymore.. Oh wells, I'll like to share this week's experience.
Monday
This P-Day, we went to Central to buy some new fancy pens because they are fancy and awesome. After that, we went to Ngaan May, a special market event in Khon Kaen, where I was able to purchase some more fabric. After P-Day, we finished the rest of weekly planning that we never got to finish.
Tuesday
After updating some records, we had our District Meeting, where we talked about priorities and to see what Khon Kaen needs to grow. We finalized that we needed to help members have more unity and to help the LAs get back to church. After that, we invited at Ngaan May for a bit and then met with B. Songwud. We taught him about the Priesthood, Service, and Church. We are almost done teaching everything but he still struggles with coming to church. Hopefully, a Christmas miracle will happen with him. After that, we taught some English!
Wednesday
Today, we went to visit an investigator, B. Brasid, at his house... 1 1/2 hours away from the church. We had to take this giant Songthaew all the over there. When we reach him, he gave us a little tour of his village and farm. Then, we sat down with him to teach the Restoration. A few days before we gave him the Restoration Pamphlet to read and now he basically understood every concept. Awesome! After that, B. Brasid had to deliver some oranges to his nephew's school, so we went with him and had E. Daybell deliver it to the children and I standby on watch because racism. It was a really cute moment. One of the kids kept calling E. Daybell a French man. That village is a really nice village. After that, while we were waiting for the next Songthaew to pick us up, we had a little chat with B. Brasid to get to know him a bit more. He's actually from Bangkok, but his parents are getting old so he is helping them out a bit. He's interested in learning from us because he wants something new in his life. So, we will give that to him. Once we got back to the main amphur, we visited S. Praew and explain baptism through our awesome drawing skills. She's gonna get baptism this Sunday!
Thursday
We met up with S. Noy again to see how she was doing and such. She explained how she wasn't praying so much and how she has no way to get to church. We explained that she needed faith in Christ to overcome her fears and worries. After that, we did some weekly planning and then visited B. X at his house with his wife and his friend, B. Nick, also a member. We reviewed the 10 commandments and the Law of Chasity and Word of Wisdom. Then, we visited B. Uu's family to review with his 9 year-old son, B. Bank, the Restoration. Then, we played UNO with them as a family.
Friday
Friday was the Bike for Dad event, a special event for Fathers and for the King as well. So, we went with a member and traveled for quite a bit to bike 20 km with children and adults of that Tambon. It was really fun and E. Daybell got to show off to all the Thai children because awesomeness. Then, we went back to the main city, studied a bit, and then visited B. Ta, a member here. He got to know him a bit and then shared a message about the Restoration. After that, we had Book of Mormon class, with basically no participants because the traffic caused by Bike for Dad. So, we basically had good discussion about the Catholic church with the Senior Couple here, E. and S. Lyon.
Saturday
We met with S. Noy again to teach about the 10 Commandments. I think I helped her feel more welcome with us and not with her problems because I drew really high quality and absolutely-not-stick-figures drawings of the 10 Commandments. Then, we went to Khon Kaen University again to meet with B. Moss again and to really get to know him a bit better. It was a really good discussion and then we got to share a message about the Restoration. Then, we visited with B. Songwud again to present a message about prayer and how to rely on it for strength against stress.
Sunday
After church, S. Praew was baptized. Hooray!. I was a speaker for her baptismal service so I shared a little parable I wrote because I had nothing else to do in Personal Study. It's about a kid and his toy airplane. I might type that up for you all. After her baptism, we watched the recent Christmas Devo. I really liked President Uchtdorf's talk with the dude and the wheelchair. Brace the Generous One! After that, we visited B. Peterson to see how he's doing and to provide the sacrament with him. Also, his son served in Cambodia and knows a super strong family over that helped build the church in Thailand. He said that once Tina gets to Cambodia, she can get a free meal or two with them.

That's all for this week. Transfer's coming this Thursday, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay here. Have a happy 12 days of Christmas this Christmas season! Good luck Tina at the MTC! Peace out.

<![CDATA[Week 30 Lopburi]]>Tue, 08 Sep 2015 03:39:38 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-30-lopburi
Hello Hello! How is everybody doing? Here's the rundown of what happened this week.
Monday
Today, for our P-Day activity, we decided to go to this Buddhist temple. That place was super creepy that I'm not even going to show you pictures of. After that, we visited this metal shop that created replicas of popular movie and television characters. They look pretty sweet.
Tuesday
Usual Tuesday. After English Class, I had the chance of meeting S. Maow and S. Ay again. S. Maow was feeling a bit stressed out because she still can't get Sundays off for work. So I read 1 Nephi 3:7 to ensure her that she needs faith and desire to follow God in order to overcome her challenges.
Wednesday
Today, I got to go on switch with E. Powers. Woot woot! I finally was able to get my debit card out from that evil, dreaded ATM machine and buy ourselves a new washing machine! We didn't have one for over 2 weeks. Hooray! After that, we met with the Ward Secretary, B. Jang, and learned about his conversion story. He was over 26 when he was baptized and couldn't serve, but the mission president decided to let him serve for 2 months in Thailand as a Pseudo-Missionary. That's pretty sweet. After that, we get to play baby-sitters at BoM class as they lady dropped off her kids for English class but didn't realize that we only have English Class on Tuesday. So we get to read able Alma the Younger's conversion story with these kids and play Bingo afterwards.
Thursday
Washing Machine is now fully implemented. Woot! No more hand washing FOREVER! Today, we visited B. Nurak's house because both E. Reid and E. Webb will be playing a special musical number at this special and famous Family Awards event at Jangwattana. We got free ice cream and guava as well. . Then we visited S. Jai's house for dinner and to get to know her family, them being recent converts.
Friday
Today, we visited S. Moddang's house to help her move some of her furniture in her house and got free dinner as well. Then, we biked to the large market to do some inviting, but as we arrived we noticed that people were packing and this person then said this in broken English...
"Sorry! But rain is a coming!"
We looked in the sky and thought to ourselves, "Yeah Right". So everyone was leaving and we couldn't get inviting in. So, we got and left. We stopped at a red light and it started to sprinkle.
The next minute later, we are booking and biking as fast as possible because we thought we were about to drown. The rain just started pouring like crazy and I really thought I was about to die that night. People here in Thailand are afraid of the rain. I see why.
Saturday
Speaking of rain, I'm sick today. Dang it. I had no energy and by evening time I thought I was gonna die. Anyways, in the morning we met with B. Almsein to watch Finding Faith in Phrakhrist! After that, we ate lunch at the Pizza Company, Thailand's very own pizza franchise. While we were eating, a 4 year-old called E. Reid (I didn't know what happened at first) and asked if he can pray with her because her mom turned off her phone. It turned out to be the daughter of one of my RCs from Srinagkharin. It was the cutest thing ever. Then, we had a Sports Day where we were attempting to play badminton, but Elder Reid and I couldn't because we had a meeting at 4. That meeting was with S. Sudjai. Still kinda crazy. After that, we met with B. Win to watch FFIC.
Sunday
B. Win was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Awesomesauce. After that, we got to meet with his girlfriend, S. Fon and teach her about the 10 commandments. After that, we visited an LA member, S. Khanxng. She's not the healthiest of people so she hasn't been the church in over 5 years. But I have a feeling that she still can. We will work on that!
That's all for this week! See ya next week!

<![CDATA[Week 29 ลพบุรี]]>Wed, 02 Sep 2015 02:06:09 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-29Picture
Hello Hello! Here's the rundown of what happened this week.
Monday
Didn't do much this day. Got a haircut, ate some pizza, and went to S. อู๊ด's house for FHE.
Tuesday
Didn't do much on this day either. We were able to meet B. วิน again to completely finish teaching him. He'll be preparing for his interview on Friday. After English, we met with S. ป๊อป again to teach about tithing and fasting.
Wednesday
Our washing machine was broken, so we decided to go to a laundromat. Bad idea. That place kept having problems and in the end it took over 5 hours of doing nothing and my clothes were super wet. That's about it for today.
Thursday
Friday
Today, we met with B. วิน for his interview. He passed!!! He'll get baptized this Sunday!!! Woot Woot!
After that, we visited B. หมี house again. It was extremely awkward because he was super drunk since 1:00 PM and didn't seem to be interested in us for religion, just as friends. So yeah... he'll have to come to church to hangout with us.
Saturday
Today, we met with B. ออมสิน to help him share the gospel with good friends of his. After that, we had a mini-sports day with the youthish people. We had a short ping-pong tourney (I won btw) and we did the human knot which failed every time. After that, we met with a S. สุดใจ. She's been known to a bit crazy. Confirmed.
Sunday
B. วิน was baptized today!! Hooray!!! His girlfriend got to come and see it and she is so excited to be baptized as well. It was awesome!.

That's all for this week. I'll send pics of what happened and what I did for P-Day today. Peace

<![CDATA[Week 28 ลพบุรี Still]]>Tue, 25 Aug 2015 02:57:11 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-28-still
(I'm finally caught up with Elder Chanthakhoun's blog)
Hello Hello! How's everybody doing. Here's the rundown of last week's events.
Friday 8/14
Today, we packed our stuff to head towards กรุงเทพ for our meeting with Elder Holland. After that, we talked with some of the older members of the ward about some LAs we have a lack of info about them. Then, we headed to กรุงเทพ.
Saturday 8/15
Today, we got to meet Elder Holland and shake hands with him. It's kinda neat. Then, he spoke to us about being our first convert and making sure we don't ever go LA. After that, for lunch, we went to an all-you-can-eat Italian restaurant which have nothing really truly Italian. Still good though! After that, I ran into my cousins, 3 of them! Awesome! Some I have never saw in person until now! After that, we went to Thailand's biggest Street market. So many foreigners there! So much stuff to buy.
Sunday 8/16
We went to the main meeting with Elder Holland. Over 2000 members went to it. It was a wonderful experience, besides the monotone Thai translation. Some of the stuff was definitely lost in translation. Anyways, he talked about having quality baptisms, embracing the temple which will be soon be built, and having members help the missionaries. After that, we returned to ลพบุรี and visited a sick member at the hospital.
Monday 8/17
Today, we helped S. เป at her grandfather's funeral. It was an awkward experience because everything was Buddhist and you have 3 Christian foreigners and a Thai-looking person serving beverages and other duties. But, it was fun. After that, we went to S. แป๊ต (Bat) for FHE.
Tuesday 8/18
Today, we printed pics for Friendship books because....... Elder Hartung and Elder Gardner will be transferring. . Afterwards, we meet with S. แสตมป์ and B. ปอปปี้ to review the Plan of Salvation. After English class, we taught S. ป๊อป the LOC and WOW.
Wednesday 8/19
Today, we watched the Restoration DvD with B. วิน and helped him understand more about Joseph Smith. Then, I helped Elder Gardner teach some RCs. After that, with the youth/ YSA, Elder Gardner and I help bake some cookies. Then, for a farewell for the 2 Elders, we went to a หมูกระทะ (BBQ thingy). Yum!
Thursday 8/20
Elder Gardner and Elder Hartung are now officially gone! E. Gardner went to บางบวทอง (Bangbuathong)and E. Hartung went to อุบล (Ubon). The new Elders will come around midnight. Today, we visited two LAs, S. หนู (New, meaning "Mouse") and B. นัย (Nai). Not sure why they are LA but we will try to help them come back to church. So, the new Elder arrived. The first is Elder Powers. He's from Maine and has just came from เชียงราย (Chiangray) located at the border of Thailand and Myanmar. The other is Elder Webb. He's from Idaho and just came from นองใค (Nongkhay), located at the border of Thailand and Laos.
Friday 8/21
Today, we mostly showed the new Elders around the place. After that, we met briefly with S. Sixth Sense, one of the older RCs. Then, we met a new family of investigators. The head of the household was named B. หมี (Mee, meaning "Bear") He's a ship captain.
Saturday 8/22
Today, we met with B. ออมสิน again and finished teaching him the lessons. Now, he just has to wait a month because he's under 16. After that, we bought some food and some items of business at our house.
Sunday 8/23
After church, we had a moment to see S. ฝน again and teach her the Plan of Salvation. Then, for dinner, we made hamburgers!

That's all for this week. See ya next week.

<![CDATA[Week 27 ลพบุรี]]>Tue, 25 Aug 2015 02:56:54 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-27
Hello Hello! This week I get to email a little earlier because tomorrow we are going to meet Elder Jeffery R. Holland and our P-Day will be moved to Saturday instead. So here's the run down of what happened this week so far.
Monday
On Monday, we all rode our bikes to this small mountain where there was this small Buddhist Temple that we can climb. It had some pretty nice scenery and I got some nice pics. After that, we went with B. เอิ๊ก to Uncle Mustache for some chicken steak, fries, vegetables, and garlic bread for about a dollar.
Tuesday
Before English class, we had a chance to talk with S. ทราย about missionary work because she really wants to be a missionary when she turns 19. After that, we met with S.แสตมป์ a little bit to explain what Our Heritage was about. After English, we sat down with S. ป๊อป to explain the Plan of Salvation.
Wednesday
Today, we got the chance to see B. วิน again to teach all about the commandments such as the 10 commandments, Tithing, and Fasting. After that, we got to see all of Elder Reid's RCs all at the same time (กุ๊กใก่,เดียร์,บอสส์, แสตมป์). There, we talked to them about Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and some our favorite scriptures. After that, they all participate in Book of Mormon class.
Thursday
We really didn't do much.

That's all for this week. See ya in a week and a half! Pics on the way!

<![CDATA[Week 26 ลพบุรี]]>Tue, 25 Aug 2015 02:56:36 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-26
Hello Hello! How is everybody doing today? Here's the rundown of what happened the previous week.
Monday
This P-Day was a rather lackluster one. We were originally planning to go to a different area to help a member move this thing and go to a Buddhist Temple with these super creepy figurines and such. But they found someone else to help them instead that lived near by. Afterwards, we went to a Internet Cafe to do some emailing, but you couldn't upload or download and the owner was really mean. It was a lame experience. We were about to visit an artillery museum when the member called us and wanted us to build her stand by her restaurant. We then proceeded to spend 3 hours of our P-Day building this stand because parts were missing and others were misplaced. But it was kinda fun. We got free Iced Cocoa and dinner. .
Tuesday
Today was your generic Tuesday. Lunch, Swenson's Ice Cream, and District Meeting. District Meeting was a little interesting because we had a soon-to-be missionary shadowing us. She will be serving in the Leeds, England Mission in a little bit. We had to use code names for our investigators because a family of investigators happened to be her family. For English Class, we played Jeopardy! It was fun! And confusing for them!
Wednesday
Today, we had a chance to meet with S. ป๊อป with some extra time to meet with her. We shared a message about the Restoration and how it applies to her family. We were wondering on why she won't accept a baptism date and asked about her family. Apparently, she has never told her parents that she is learning and her parents will be mostly against her learning. We will try to meet with her more often to help her resolve the situation. We also got a chance to meet B. วิน again and to teach him about the Restoration. We then were able to help him understand more about the Index and how it helps him understand me.
Thursday
We didn't really do much this day, mostly just Choir, free dinner, and calling some RC to check up on them.
Friday
Today was Zone Training, so we headed to Ayuthaya. There, we learned more about how to help Less-Actives. It's no longer just a Baptism goal, but a Baptism Goal and a Less-Actives Return goal as well. This will be an interesting concept for the mission. Apparently, there are over 20,000 members in Thailand, but over 15,000 are less active. A bit saddening. After that, we returned to Lopburi and had a barbecue with the RCs. That was fun and yummy!
Saturday
This day was a switch with Elder Hartung. We first visited S. แดงโม and helped her move a giant sewing table and another table. We then proceeded to eat a free lunch. Afterwards, we headed to a member's home, S. ทราย (Sai, meaning "Sand") to wait for another investigator. While we waited, we were able to share a short message to her family, consisting of 2 grandmothers and some cousins. We then proceeded to head to the investigator's home. This investigator has a really interesting backstory that I found interesting. This person is person I met 4 weeks ago when I first came to Lopburi. She saw the missionaries often, either when they were biking or when inviting at a market. However, she never had a interest. However, when she met me, she was thinking, "What's a Lao-American doing here in Thailand trying to share a message about Jesus?" She proceeded to take my Invite card, but left no number so I was unable to contact her. A few weeks later, she was driving out of her neighborhood when she saw S. ทราย off on the side of the road, waiting for a bus. She came up to S. ทราย and offered her a ride to the city. She asked where she was going. S. ทราย said she was going to church. The investigator mentions my meeting with her and about my church. Sทราย said it was the very same one. Bam, instantly interested. She, her mother, and her two little daughters are planning to attend church in the future. Afterwards, we went back to the church to participate in a Thai Mother's Day event. (Mother's Day in Thailand is the Queen's birthday). There, we listen to talks and help clean the backyard of the church for them. After that, we met with a Brother and his mother. The Brother is planning to baptized this Sunday, and he promised his mother that he will stop smoking and drinking forever. That's all for Saturday
Sunday
Sunday was rather disappointing because the brother who was planning to be baptized called us and said that he doesn't feel ready for baptism and didn't come to church. Then, we had absolutely 0 investigators at church, which was another pitfall. After that, we did things here and there, headed back to the house and organized some data about LAs, and also cleaned our room a bit for the first time.
That's all for this week! See ya next week! Pics on the way!

<![CDATA[Week 25 ลพบุรื]]>Tue, 25 Aug 2015 02:56:22 GMThttp://chanthakhounonamission.weebly.com/blog/week-25Hello Hello! How is everybody doing this fine day? Here's my rundown of what happened last week!
Monday
Today, we really didn't do that much. Elder Reid and I bought some new Thai Vocab books to study Thai from. After that, us 4 Elders along with S. แสตมป and S. เบ visited this oldish ruined temple/fortress built around the 1400's. It's really cool looking, but not surprisingly old. After that, we went to S. แบ๊ว's house for FHE, where they served some really good food.
Tuesday
Today, we were in a Trio with Elder Garner while his companion is on a switch off with the Zone Leader. We didn't really get to do much together, as we just to the bike shop for bike parts, Swenson's for ice cream, etc. After that, they had to return Elder Klein, the Zone Leader who will จบ this transfer, back to Ayuthya. So it was just Elder Reid and I who had to teach English all by ourselves. Scary.
Wednesday
Today, we visited a member's home. The family consisted of 2 grandparents and a grandson. They are a less-active family because the grandfather is too sickly to go to church, so the grandmother and the grandson is constantly looking after him. But, when we got there, the grandmother and the grandson were arguing hardcore because the grandson wanted to work for his uncle at a different area, but the grandmother wanted him to stay to help her. The members that we came with us were also adding fuel to the fire. So Elder Reid and I tried our hardest to calm everyone down, which they eventually did in the end. After that, we met with two new investigators B. วิน (Win) and his girlfriend, S. ฝน (Fon meaning "Rain"). I felt a little sad for them because the members that we were teaching with us were sharing about everything to the point that the investigators were completely confused. After that, Book of Mormon class.
Thursday
Today, we didn't really do much. We tried to teach some of our investigators that lived faraway through the phone, but it didn't work as well as we would like. After that, Elder Reid helped with Choir Practice for the ward because he's one of the few people who know how to play the piano. After that, the members cooked up with chicken and pineapples. That's all we ate for dinner.
Friday
Friday was a rather unproductive day.
Saturday
Saturday was also a rather unproductive day, but we had the opportunity to teach B. วิน again about the Plan of Salvation.
Sunday
Today, S. เจี๊ยบ, the investigator from the other companionship, was baptized today. Hooray! After that, we have the opportunity to see S. กุ๊กใก่ and S. เดียร์, for perhaps the last time because they'll start college pretty soon and head off to different provinces. But who knows, I might move to an area where they are at.

That's all for today. No pictures this week because the Internet Cafe I am at right now is unable to handle uploading and downloading, only hardcore video gaming apparently... See you all next week!
