About Elder Joseph Chanthakhoun
|
Elder Chanthakhoun and his family is from Minnesota. He has eight siblings and is the middle child. Elder Chanthakhoun is the first member of his immediate family to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received his mission call on October 12, 2014. Like many people who were waiting for their mission call, Elder Chanthakhoun guessed where he would serve. He guessed somewhere in Central or South America because he took Spanish for 4 years. As he was opening his call, his baby sister Paula yelled out Thailand! Joe read his call and shockingly he was called to serve in the Bangkok, Thailand mission. This was all crazy yet amazing to him. He looked at the map of his mission and realized that he will also serve in Laos which is where his family's background is from. He couldn't be more happy. He left for the Provo MTC on February 11, 2015 and will be heading out for Thailand on April 13th.
A little about Elder Chanthakhoun is that he loves EMD (Electronic dance music) and house music. He was attending BYU-I and hopes to have a career in medicine. He loves to do his sisters homework...just kidding (Tina wrote this). His go to scripture right now is Ether 12:4. He is definitely excited for Thai food since it is similar to Laotian food. He is also excited to see the church in Laos since some of his family are members there. He also can't wait to reunite with his grandma. |

Hello! My name is Paula.Elder Chanthakhoun is a great brother to me; I can't wait to hear his experiences and I know he will learn lots. Here is my quote: "A good lesson is learning, but a better lesson is how to teach it." This quote relates to all missionaries.
