Week 11 is now official. This week is the week where I've done some real missionary work, like teaching real life ผู้สนใจ(investigators). I don't really say much with the gospel stuff, but I bear testimony all the time. Well, here was last week's experiences.
Monday
First P-Day here in Thailand. In the morning we just did our normal studies. After that, we did emails. which were the emails from last week. Sorry for the bombardment of emails. You can only send some many pictures at once, which is just like 1 or 2. Btw, I found out that the 1 hour email limit is just a MTC rule. Send any email you want. I definitely answer them now! After emails, we went to SeaCon, which is a decent-sized mall, and done some inviting. After that, we went to Brother ต้อง (Tccng, pronounced as "Dong")'s house for FHE with some other members, where we ate dinner and shared a message about burden's and growth.
Tuesday
This day, we had district meeting, where we as a district talked about how to be better missionaries and to help our investigators. After that, we went to Swenson's, this ice cream restaurant over at SeaCon. On Tuesday, they give out a free scoop for every scoop you buy. I only got 2 scoops because I'm trying to save money and watch my figure. One of the Elders from our district said once that he had 10 scoops in one setting before. Ehhhhh. Afterwards, we received a phone call from someone who wanted to know more about the church. However, they weren't investigators, but were members from Pakistan, the first members from Pakistan, back in 1992. They moved to Thailand because the lady's husband passed away and she and her sons wanted to go to Thailand to find jobs and escape religious prosecution. It was really interesting to hear about their history and how they were like inactive for 5 months because they couldn't speak Thai and couldn't ask people where the church was until the previous missionaries from our district found them. After that, we did service, which for Thailand is to teach English at the church building. It's kinda funny how they couldn't understand me when I spoke English and how I couldn't understand them when they spoke Thai. Hopefully, that changes as time progresses.
Wed
So this day was my first lesson with a real life investigator. Her name was Sister เพ็น (Phen, pronounced as "Pen") She seems to be a very good person. We taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, Endure) along with Law of Chasity and Word of Wisdom. She didn't seem to have any problems with it. After that, we went to Big C(another shopping mall) to do some inviting, but no one was really there oddly. So we went to SeaCon and invited for like 5 mins until someone who spoke really broken English called us and wanted to go to church right at that moment. We thought it was an Indian or a Pakistani, but it turned out to be a คนใท (Khon Thai) who had mistaken us for Elder Dunnaway (who was a greenie before I came in). We didn't get to teach, but we handed him a Book of Mormon and some pamphlets. After that, we went to this meeting called "Sheep to Shepard", where the members talked about how to help Less-Active families. I didn't understand a single thing, so I studied Thai.
Thurs
We went to SeaCon to invite. After that, we went back to the church to teach Sister ใจ(cay, pronounced as "Jai", translates to "Heart"), a recent convert. After that, we had sports night, which consisted of badminton and ping pong. We also taught Sister แจม (C33m, pronounced as "Jam"). She's basically ready for baptism, but her parents are Anti-Christian, which is really odd because Sister จุน (Cun, pronounced as "June"), her sister, is already a member, and both of them are like 15. Hopefully, she will get baptized.
Fri
This day, we had some kind of Zone Training, so our district went to Bangnaa to meet with our zone, which is Bangkok East. There, we learned that we should never be hesitant on asking investigators to be baptized, even though we fear that they might become less-active. We invited more at SeaCon and returned to the church to teach RC Sister บูวี(Buuwii, pronounced as Buoy I think?) Then we went to Book of Mormon class. After that, Sister กๅน (kaan "gaan") gave us so much food like milk, Somtam, mangoes, pineapple, sticky rice, fried beef. She is so awesome.
Sat
We had the opportunity to teach Brother โอ (Oo "Oh"), a new investigator. He seems to be good. He got slightly nervous when we mentioned about not drinking coffee. He also didn't go to church this Sunday either... Anyways, we helped prepare food with the members as they prepare to do this Ward activity. I was pretty bad at preparing it. After that, we got to participate in the activity, which consisted of games such as having a large circle of chairs with every one sitting down except for one empty spot, and everything there was an empty chair between two people, those people must grab someone to fill that spot and the process continues until the music stops. Another game we played was this game that was similar to the spoons and the eggs game but with straws and rubber bands instead. Then the Ward participated in Gift Exchange. We then played the Ball-Between-2-Backs race.
Sun
So this day we had church...where over 14 investigators came, most of them we haven't met before. There was Sister น้อย (nccy "noi","Few") She had the influence of the Holy Ghost because she said she felt this overwhelming sensation that Jesus Christ is real and that she wants to go to this church. I feel like a baptism is coming up. Then we met Sister น้อง (nccng "nawng" "Young/Younger"). Right off the bat, she took a picture of me, Elder Feist, and herself, and this is about 3 mins after I had met her. Then we met Brother เจน (ceen /"Jan"), who has been an investigator...for over 5 years. He has a fully highlighted Gospel Library App and everything. He's basically a member... After that, we had lunch and went to a Ward Council Meeting, which I understood nothing. Then we went inviting at Big C with S.จุน, S. เล้ก (lek, "Lek", "Small"), S. นก (nok, "Nok", "Bird"), and B. อีส์ (ii. "Ice") (The last symbol over the last character is a silencer, which means you don't really pronounce it. But it is used with words are English words and names are English names. So even though it's spelled as "ii", it is pronounced as "iis" or "Ice", to fit it as an English pronunciation.) Afterwards, we had dinner.
So that was all for this week. Stay tuned for next week.
